Q. I notice that you have a facility for customers to drop their rugs to you. Can you also clean rugs at my property?
A. Yes we can. If you have 2 or more rugs to be cleaned it is often just as economical for us to come to you to clean them. However, for those customers who may only have one rug, it is often far more economical to bring your rug to us. Most rug cleans can be completed within a few days.
Q. What types of rugs can you clean?
A. Most types. Whether your rug is mass produced and was relatively inexpensive or you have invested a lot of money, we can usually safely clean it. This includes Oriental rugs, Persian rugs, Wool/Wool mix rugs, Cotton rugs and Synthetic rugs, though silk rugs generally can’t be cleaned. Our highly trained operators always pretest rugs before cleaning to ensure they are safe to be cleaned. Call us on 0845 658 8276 to discuss your needs or click here
Q. Why do I need to have my rug cleaned?
A. Apart from the obvious reason of general day to day stains and soiling, it is most important to keep all types of carpets and rugs clean. Tiny particles of soiling build up over time that normal domestic vacuums do not remove – left in the rug these particles of soiling can lead to premature ageing of the fibres by abrasion each time you walk on them. Our gentle but highly effective cleaning methods help with the removal of these damaging soil particles whilst also restoring the appearance of your rug.
Q. My daughter has asthma, is your cleaning system safe to use in our property?
A. Although everything we use has been designed to be non-toxic, child and pet friendly, it is impossible to guarantee 100% that no one will have an adverse reaction to something we may use if they are particularly sensitive. Although it is unlikely your daughter would have a problem, our advice would always be to exclude any young or elderly members of the family, or pets from the areas cleaned until they are dry. Please remember though that regular cleaning of carpets and soft furnishings is one of the best ways to promote a healthy, dust free environment.
Q. My friend used a company who said they were steam carpet cleaners. Another friend said they used a company who were a carpet shampooer. Why are there all these different methods and what method do you use?
A. There is not really any such thing as a carpet steam cleaner when it comes to carpet cleaning. Many cleaning companies market themselves as steam cleaners because the general public like the sound of it! They actually use hot water extraction machines that get hot enough to produce some steam as they spray. Too much steam is actually potentially very bad for both wool and manmade carpets and can even set stains. The modern cleaning solutions that we use are actually designed to work best at carefully controlled lower temperatures for this reason. Although we use a type of hot water extraction machine, our state of the art cleaning machine controls the heat to ensure that it is always at the optimum temperature to provide the best carpet clean. Carpet shampoo doesn’t really exist as a professional method either but again a carpet cleaner will often market himself in that way because he thinks it’s what the public expect. Shampoos are generally soap based and certainly not something that a reputable carpet cleaner would wish to use due to it causing rapid resoiling of carpets.
Q. Friends who have had rugs cleaned by other companies have said that the rugss seemed to get dirty quickly afterwards. Does this happen with your process?
A. Not with us! Some of the poorer quality operators use soaps or detergents which are not rinsed out of the rug properly – this then tends to attract soiling to the rug more quickly. This is probably why your friend had this problem. At A Brighter Home we use the best, most advanced cleaning solutions on the market which are designed not to cause this type of problem.
Q. Do you carry out on site quotes before the day of the clean?
A. In most cases this simply isn’t necessary (except for commercial cleans). Our team on the phones have many years of experience and in 99% of cases can provide you with an accurate quote. All of our operators are highly trained and will carry out a full survey of the clean with you before they start – any potential issues or pre-existing conditions will be highlighted at this point. If your item is not safe to be cleaned or we do not believe that we can achieve the required results then we will not charge you – although in our experience this is very rare.
